In-depth experience in neuropsychological testing
What is neuropsychology?
Throughout our development, there is a constant relationship between our brains and behavioural patterns. At PECS, we undertake various neuropsychological assessments to examine this relationship, so we can detect any unique psychological, cognitive or behavioural patterns.
At PECS, we offer a range of neuropsychological testing that examines how your brain functions. These tests are available to children and adults to address various concerns such as IQ level, cognitive development, or memory function.
The tests involve online evaluations, written tests, face-to-face administration, as well as interviews to ensure comprehensive and accurate results. These types of cognitive tests are the same for everyone. Tests are conducted in the same manner and there is a determined average score that decides ‘normality’. A comparison is then undertaken whereby your results are compared to someone from a similar demographic background to determine the expected level of functioning.
What exactly does the test require?
IQ tests and psychological assessments will look at your brain functioning in various areas, such as:
- Sensorimotor functions
- Quality of life
PECS staff will adjust questions and focus on a few areas based on what you want to achieve out of the test. If you have a referral doctor, he or she will make this clear before you attend your consultation at PECS. The focus areas will also be based on the client’s symptomatic behaviour and queries.
It is important to remember that neuropsychological testing is not a simple process. In fact, it can take up to four hours for you to complete the test. This is all dependent on what needs to be addressed, and the condition of the individual. This can also be split into two sessions.
